Cathianna Rosenthal

Ms Cathianna Ms. Cathianna is a former 35 year Alaskan resident, now lives in Tullahoma, TN.  In early years, she was a professional snow skier.  Her father was an astronomer, her mother, an artist.  They were a family of explorers and inventors.  Her education in art comes from hundreds of hands-on classes throughout her life-time.  During her years in Alaska, she spent quite a bit of time traveling into remote villages sharing in music and artistic expression with both native adults and children.  While raising her family in the arctic, she taught art to her children and in private school for all ages of youth.  Her travels led her to Hawaiian islands for periods of time where she worked with ceramics, chalk, sketch and watercolor.  She is a member of the Tullahoma Art Center through her Alaskan Bering Sea Stone jewelry.  By traveling to Alaska’s Coastline she partners with Eskimo, Inupiaq locals to get the stones, then makes them into affordable, interesting jewelry.
As an author, recording artist and radio show personality, she loves to tell stories and even sing with the groups during classes.  Her sense of humor is as vibrant as her creativity.  Cathianna is an artist by lifestyle and she imparts this motivation to all of the people she works with.  Her speciality is singing and speaking/training.  She loves working with water color, acrylic, chalk, sketch, clay, 3D, collage, stones, natural elements and paper.
Cathianna comments, “The process of developing artistic expression helps us in all areas of life.  Art is not just a class of technique and creation, it is a developmental necessity that creates life-long habits.  These disciplines bring hope in times of doubt, strength to produce and believe that we can succeed, and the ability to inspire others.
Artists are the backbone of society, not just an “extra” section of the populous.  If readers are leaders, artists are the idea-ists.  They live in the “warehouse” that others come to for inspiration and direction.  To learn the artistic process is to learn how to succeed, have vision and employ it.
I always reward students who have expressions, whether quiet or quite loud.  All are welcome at summer camp.  These weeks will be very inspiring to each of us.  It’s gonna be fun!  I love to laugh and I will be telling some great Alaskan stories of animals, snow and the northern lights (which we will be doing in chalk).  I will be incorporating science into our projects.  Anyone who completes a week with me, gets to make one of my Alaska’s Bering Sea Stone necklaces or medallions and take a picture with me to remember the motivational things that we will talk about.
I still remember a woman that called me to public speaking for a competition in 4th grade!  Mrs. Gordon saw in me the natural gifts that I had.  She knew how to lead me and it has inspired my life since then.
Come on out!  Let’s make some cool stuff!”
