The Paired Project-One to Keep & One to Share

Sewing

The Tullahoma Art Center is excited to be the recipient of a grant in the amount of $2325 from the Tennessee Arts Commission to fund our “Paired Project”

The funds will be used to facilitate a project in which youth between the ages of 10-18 years old will learn beginning sewing techniques making 2 pillowcases. One will be for themselves and the other will be distributed to children living in shelters and temporary foster care in Middle Tennessee.

The Paired Project will accomplish 3 key outcomes:Sewing Pillow Case 2

 1.    Introduce young people to the art of sewing and fashion with inspiration for developing skills that could take them into the Fashion Industry.

Dates Schedule: . Jan 27th, Feb 24th, Mar 24 & 31st, April 28th, May 19th from 10am to 4pm at the Tullahoma Art Center

2.    Engage the youth in the act of charitable giving and fostering the spirit of giving throughout their lifetime.

3.    The recipients will receive the gift that becomes their own personal item and understand that someone cared about them. For children living in shelters and temporary foster care, this gesture is powerful.

Sewing Pillowcase The United Way of Coffee and Moore Counties will serve as a conduit for distribution of the pillowcases to foster care children.

Safe Haven a temporary shelter in Nashville will accept the pillowcases on behalf of the children they serve.

This is a matching funds grant and the Tullahoma Art Center is seeking partnerships with four local organizations or individuals in the amount of $500 each. We need to raise a total of $2300.
