Born out of a need to preserve the past in 1968, the Tullahoma Fine Arts Center brought quality art experiences to the region, while also protecting and nurturing the legacy of the three Baillet sisters. This could not have been accomplished if not for a great group of Tullahoma citizens (many native citizens and many transplants brought to Tullahoma for careers at AEDC). This group not only established the organization but saved the Baillet home from demolition.
In 1968, the centennial of the Baillets’ arrival in Tullahoma, a dedicated group of art lovers united to save the home from certain destruction and restored the historic building as a center for the arts. A new wing, the Regional Museum of Art, was added in 1992, bringing a modern art gallery to the center and expanding the organizations classroom, offices, and storage space.
In December 2021, the Tullahoma Fine Arts Center incorporated history into its educational programming. The Tullahoma Fine Arts Center in collaboration with the Camp Forrest Foundation (an office housed within our facilities) will create exhibits and intern opportunities along with scholarships and more.
The Tullahoma Fine Arts Center is an ADA Compliant, 501(c)3 organization that offers an array of opportunities in the form of arts and history education; through art classes/workshops, rotating exhibits and lectures. The facility also houses a permanent member artists gallery in which many great local and regional pieces may be purchases as well as the Camp Forrest Exhibition: “Legacies of Camp Forrest”. Thanks to the contribution of the Tullahoma Fine Arts Center founders and all the members over the years; the organization can continue its position as a leader in the community creating arts, cultural and educational opportunities for our region.
